I disagree that MACD is an overbought/oversold indicator. Being an absolute indicator, it has no limits up or down. This is much different than RSI or Stochastics which quite often will peg zero or a hundred...and hold it.

It has been my experience that MACD far from zero simply inidicates a strong trend. Now an extreme cross, may indicate a trend change, yet there are other factors to consider. I have found no value in using the histogram as a trading signal. It does make you aware that a trend change may be coming.

If I have no trend on the dailys, I drop down to the 60 or 30 min chart. If still no trend...sit on your hands. There must be a trend for your intermediate time frame...then take the signals on a faster time frame in the direction of the trend. MACD and volume is all you need. I like RSI as well....never found any real use for stochastics.
Best,
Will

I did not understand the volume chart.
what are the black and red colours? what is 2.5 to 10 B (left), what is meant with volume drop of at 950?

Andrew,

Don't think so. However, many of the companies listed on the ASX are also listen on US exchanges. Whether options are available on a particular stock varies from stock to stock.

If you're looking to arbitrage Aussie and US options though, I think you're out of luck. TOS won't give you access to the ASX.

Raja,

Indeed, that chart is for 1 minute. I will also use 5 minute or even 30 minute charts for my day trading. It all depends on my time frame. Sometimes I am in to make a quick scalp of a point or two. Sometimes I have a bias coming in that a big move is going to take place. I wait for a good entry point, say near support at VAL or one of my pivot points, and then sit back and wait for prices to get to my target, say at VAH or another pivot point. In that case I may use longer bars.

That mypivots website is great, isn't it?

Ok.
Thanks for this great article, I am personally staring to learn MP. My question is at what point would you consider an entry point for a for breakout of VA .....let say in my case since I trade oil. Value Area High is 95.50, and it goes to 95.80, exactly where above 95.50 you consider a breakout?.....how high?........and do you at least wait for two TPO's?

Thanks in advance
